This Lodge in one of the senior Lodges under the jurisdiction of The United Grand Lodge of England.

When the Lodge warrant was issued in 1788 the Lodge meetings were held in the Devonshire Arms and later met in the Lord Rodney public houses.
In 1896 the foundation stone for our present premises was laid and the Lodge moved here in 1897.

In the long history of the Lodge members of most trades and professions have been members, ranging from soap boiler to blacksmiths and soldiers to surgeons.
