Freemasons Donate Over £29,000 To 26 Yorkshire Charities
Organisations from across the region are the beneficiaries of the latest round of quarterly grants from Freemasons within the Province of Yorkshire West Riding.
A total of £29,100 has been handed out to 26 groups including churches, educational establishments, hospices and those supporting both the young and elderly.
All the money paid out via the Provincial Grand Master’s Fund has been raised locally by Freemasons throughout the province, which encompasses all of West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and parts of north and east Yorkshire.
Those to benefit from the latest tranche of grants include Martin House Children’s Hospice, which has been given £2,000 to buy nine “smart” televisions. Leeds Mencap has also received £2,000 which will help with the purchase of a service station shelter.
Oxenhope Parish Council has been awarded £1,000 to fund two community defibrillators for the village, whilst Minden Bugles and Drums Army Cadet Force Band has received £1,000 to purchase drums skins, drum sticks and clothing.
Provincial Grand Master Rt W Bro David S Pratt said: “I’m delighted that again we are able to help so many wonderful groups within our Province.
“However, it would not be possible without the generosity of our brethren, and I would like to personally thank them for everything they do in raising money throughout the year.
“Without their support, these 29 organisations would not be benefiting today, and the region as a whole would be the poorer.
“As we begin to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the founding of the United Grand Lodge of England, and our province marks its 200th birthday, charity, and, more importantly charitable giving, will be at the top of our list of priorities for 2017.”
