Roger D. Newhouse Installed as Assistant Provincial Grand Master

On Wednesday 6th January 2016, an emergency meeting was held by Craven Lodge 810 to allow the Provincial Grand Master of the Province of Yorkshire, West Riding, the R W Bro David S Pratt, to Appoint, Obligate, Invest and Install W Bro Roger David Newhouse PAGDC, PPSGW as Assistant Provincial Grand Master of the Province of Yorkshire, West Riding.

Because of the number of Brethren expected to attend, them had to be held in the larger Premises at Hoyle Court, Baildon. They only just proved adequate, there being over 150 Brethren in attendance.

The PGM, accompanied by his Deputy, the four Assistant Provincial Grand Masters and other Provincial Officers, including the Sword and Standard Bearers, was welcomed into the Lodge and the WM offered him the Gavel, which he accepted and took control of the Lodge.

The PGM explained his reasoning and decision in selecting W Bro Roger Newhouse to become one of his APGMs for the next five years. He applauded his honesty, work ethic, integrity and dedication to the Craft as well as his many personal qualities, saying he was absolutely confident in his choice.

The Provincial Director of Ceremonies then formed an escort, which left the Lodge and escorted W Bro Roger Newhouse PAGDC, PPSGW into the Lodge, W Bro Edward Brown carrying the Chain of Office of an APGM.

The PGM proceeded to appoint, obligate, invest and install W Bro Newhouse as an Assistant Provincial Grand Master.

The Escort Party returned to their seats and the PGM proclaimed W Bro. Roger as an Assistant Provincial Grand Master of the Province of Yorkshire, West Riding.

The installation ceremony was followed by a very enjoyable festive board, in which a hearty toast was raised to W.Bro Newhouse, who responded poignantly, sharing tales about his memories of earlier years in Craven Lodge, and also about his father and brother; both former members.
