Craven’s Oxfam Trailtrekkers 2011
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
Hundreds of teams of walkers turned out to complete the 100km Oxfam Trailtrekker Walk held in the Yorkshire Dales over this last weekend. Among the Trekkers were W.Bro Michael Holden and W Bro Edward Brown of Craven Lodge No.810 in Skipton. They were accompanied by two of Michael’s sons, Jonathan and William, who sadly had to retire at 65km and 79km. This was mainly due to a lack of time to practice during the preceeding weeks and certainly wasn’t due to a lack of enthusiasm.
WBro’s Michael and Edward had been preparing by doing some major practice walks during the last few months, both in daylight and at night. The practice certainly paid off and they completed the Trek in 28 hours and 33 minutes, well within the 30 hour time limit.
Although the final cumulative amount raised is not yet known Michael and Edward’s Team raised in excess of £2500.
We understand W.Bro Edward burnt his boots in a brief but extremely moving ceremony when he reached the end (hence the bare feet in the picture)!
Looks like he’ll need some new boots for the next one ? Sorry…….what was that Edward?
