Charity – it’s not just about money!
At the end of April one of the youngest and newest members of Craven Lodge No 810 in Skipton, Bro Martin Broadley, made a trip to Gt Ormond St Hospital in London to donate some of his bone marrow to help a young person suffering from a life threatening blood disorder. On a previous visit it was found that Martin’s bone marrow was a 99% match. The operation was a complete success and Martin is now back at work as the Head Gardener for The Duke of Devonshire’s Bolton Abbey Estate and suffering no ill effects from his experience. Martin is not yet aware, and may never become aware, of the outcome for the recipient, but hopefully he or she will make a full recovery.
Martin only recently became a Master Mason and is thoroughly enjoying his Freemasonry. All the brethren of Craven Lodge are extremely proud of what Martin has done, and when we think about Charity, we should all remember that it’s not just about donating money!
