Old Brodleians RUFC Under 17’s Awarded Generous Grant By West Riding Masonic Charities

Clifton Lodge No 7112, Brighouse, petitioned the PGM’s fund for a grant for The Old Brodleans Under16s Rugby Team, they were travelling to France to take part in a European Tournament and required new kit. The application was successful and W.Bro Brian Young the Lodge Almoner presented a cheque for £1000 to the Team Trainer, John Cole.

The visit has now taken place and I’m pleased to be able to report they won the Tournament and returned victorious, I’d like to think our contribution to the new kit played its part.

John Cole trainer of the under 17’s squad at the Old Brodleians RUFC can be seen here receiving a generous donation of £1000 from Brian Young from the Masonic Clifton Lodge, based in Brighouse, with the support of the West Yorkshire Masonic Charities.

Kevin Dawson also a member of the Lodge and team First aid support applied to his Lodge for the grant to help kit the team out in good quality sporting wear in readiness for their tournament trip to the French International Rugby Festival 2011 near Arras and Lille.

The gift has bought the full team of 15 players Polo shirts, T Shirts, high quality sweat shirts with matching jogging pants. Here you can see 5 members of the team wearing their new tour travelling clothes representing the Old Brodleians RUFC whilst abroad at the International Rugby Festival.

John Cole said without the support of organisations such as The West Riding Masonic charities and other generous people and organisations, trips like this would be extremely difficult to arrange and finance, the lads really appreciate the generosity shown to them.
The 9th French International Festival of Rugby will be the highlight of many teams season. The largest junior rugby festival in France will see teams from all around France, Europe, the UK and Ireland descend on the region to compete in an outstanding event. The opportunity to give young players a chance to experience a new country, a new culture and new style of rugby, is an opportunity not to be missed. The atmosphere and welcome is always unique and a Festival of immense excitement on and off the field is guaranteed.
