Recent Web Site Unavailability

The Masonic Province of Yorkshire, West Riding web site is now back online after an extended period of unavailability.  This problem affected both the web site and all Provincial email accounts.

The outage was caused by computer hackers attacking the servers of the company who host the web site.  Due to the severity of the attack, in addition to our Provincial site, all other customers using this company were also affected (with an estimated 700 web sites being taken offline).  The problem was made worse by the hackers also attacking the backup servers of the company, in an effort to ensure that web sites could not be recovered from the attack.

Therefore, although the web site and email addresses are now back online, readers should be aware that certain pages of the site appear to have reverted back to older versions.  This is because the last safe backups taken by the company (held offsite) were older backups.

We are currently in the process of re-applying recent changes, and ask that if you notify us of any necessary correction, that you remain patient while we work to address them.  In the meantime, we apologise for the inconvenience caused to users of the site.
