Area 4 Major Grant Recipients 2010
Milton School for Autistic Children at Swinton
£15,000 presented to Milton School for Autistic Children at Swinton to purchase communication equipment (St. George’s Lodge No. 242). Two members of St George’s Lodge, W Bro David Loy Prov G Mentor and W Bro Brian Butterfield (IPM), were invited to the launch on 5th November of the school’s redevelopment project. The school has recently achieved Language and Communications status within its Special School designation and has purchased 12 Apple computers to assist.
Three tenders are being sought for the alterations to the school and work is expected to commence in the New Year. The grant was mentioned by the Head Teacher in the speech at the launch and the brethren were introduced to the Chair of the Board of Governors.
Friends of New Lane Park
£5,000 to the Friends of New Lane Park to purchase play area equipment (St. George’s Lodge No. 242)
The project has suffered a setback in that it has lost £50,000 support in the recent round of cuts. Supporters have produced plans for a revised scheme which, they hope, will go ahead in spring 2011.
